Common Questions

What month is best to fish Lake Chickamauga?

- The fishing on Chickamauga Lake is really good year round! However, there are definitely some sweet spots we like to target especially when it comes to fishing for Bass on this one of a kind lake. Lake Chickamauga Bass fishing really heats up in the fall as the temperatures drop. In the fall Bass will seek refuge from both the cold and predators in the vegetation that grows so prominently on this beautiful lake. Once they are in this foliage they will feed on pretty consistently on the frogs that also inhabit the same areas. This makes for a one of a kind topwater fishing experience.

What kind of fish do you catch in Tennessee?

- In the Chattanooga area of Tennessee we are blessed with a diverse group of fish species that we target year round. When we fish the Tennessee River and its various dams and reservoirs around Chattanooga, we primarily catch Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass, Catfish ( Channel Catfish, Flathead Catfish and Blue Catfish), Striped Bass, Spotted Bass and more!

What time of day is best to fish in Tennessee?

- Good fishing can be found all throughout the day in Tennessee and in Chattanooga specifically. When it comes to shallow water fishing, the early morning and right before sunset tend to fish very well. The larger fish that live here like Largemouth Bass are ambush predators which means they have an easier chance of surprising their prey when the light on the water is lower than it is in the middle of the day. When it comes to fishing for Catfish in deeper water, the mid mornings are generally very productive as are the afternoons. The amount of sunlight that reaches the depths at which we catch Catfish is negligible meaning their feeding patterns are generally less influenced by the time of day and the amount of sunlight on the water.
